An index, a skeleton of brand strategy and a framework to abide by, to build brand identity is what ‘brand guideline’ loosely translates into. Brand guidelines are a must in today’s competitive business world to stand strong with individuality. Companies have to look for ways to connect emotionally with customers and create lifelong relationships which is possible with their brand identity design. We can’t say it enough: people fall in love with brands if the brand strategy is precise and the visual identity design is on-point. It doesn’t matter what stage your company is at or how amazing the brand strategy is, there’ll be loopholes if a brand style guide isn’t present.

1. Brand Overview

This element consists of comprehensive aspects which are building blocks of the brand. From the inception- the brand story, background, audience purpose, vision, mission, values and brand positioning formulates the overall overview.

2. Identity

This element consists of depiction-ary aspects of the brand. Aspects like- logo meaning/ story, main logo, logotype, clear space, minimum size, logo applications, logo use and misuse rules, alternate logos and background logo are considered.

3. Voice & Tone

This element speaks about visual and verbal expression, like what we are and what we are not, the language, tonality, words and phrases to use and avoid are considered.

4. Colours

This element speaks about what will be the pictorial and colour depiction of the brand and its sub-aspect like primary colours and palette; secondary colour and palette. The neutral palette is defined for use in miscellaneous areas. 

5. Typography

This element speaks about the fonts and typographic styles to suit the brand. Aspects like- headlines, subheads, labels/bullets, low-tier subheads, body copy and utility copy. Typography hierarchy levels and examples are considered.

6. Imagery

This element explores the visual element which consists of imagery. Aspects like- photography, wide perspective, personal perspective, close perspective for customer and abstract perspective.  

7. Infographic

This element explores the territory of information depicted crisply and briskly through pointers and bullet points. 8. Creative Application

This element consists of Imagery/photograph overlay style, collaterals, and the creative framework for digital, campaign creatives which further dissects into video, intro frames, lower thirds, outro options, transitions, voiceovers and music selections. The presentation section consists of corporate PPT templates, Internal PPT templates and Case Study PPT templates are considered.  

9. Resources

This element speaks about the downloads. Aspects like- Downloads logo for print, logo for digital, imagery, fonts, and colour palettes for future and external application purposes.  

10. Legal Consideration & Business System

This element consists of comprehensive aspects which are building blocks of the brand. From the inception- the brand story, background, audience purpose, vision, mission, values and brand positioning formulates the overall overview.
