How We Brought Light This Diwali

This Diwali, while everyone was busy lighting firecrackers that decorated the night sky, our team at Optimist was lighting up something even more exciting- our creative sparks! (Ok that sounded way cooler in my head, but you get the idea!)

We adopted a thoughtful and strategic approach to help brands not only look good but feel authentic and connect deeply with their audience. We believe in combining creativity with insight, ensuring that every design/content decision is backed by a clear understanding of your brand values and goals. And speaking of festive fun, we’ve been busy building two of our latest and greatest projects from scratch- Valentina Ice Cream and Ugam Ghee! Completely different in flavour (pun intended), but both with a common objective: a need for branding that wows.

Valentina

For Valentina ice cream, our vision was all about making life’s moments sweeter. We leaned into the idea that ice cream isn’t just a dessert- it’s an experience, a memory and a way to celebrate even life’s most routine moments. From the brand voice to its visual identity, everything was designed to reflect joy, indulgence and the magic of sharing sweet moments with your loved ones. Whether it’s a solo treat or a family celebration, Valentina became a symbol of everyday happiness.

For Diwali we decided to tie together the need for having Valentina ice cream by redefining modern treats with traditional rituals. We did not just stop at the usual. Oh no, but went full on Indian inspired with flavours like Rice Pudding Rapture and Saffron Whispers- think Kheer and Elaichi but with an ice cream twist. It was like bringing the heart of Indian sweets into the modern world, making sure Valentina felt right at home in the midst of Diwali celebrations.

Ugam

For Ugam Ghee we started off with a strong pitch point on how ghee is the prime ingredient in almost all of our Diwali delicacies, instantly putting a strong foot forward by creating a necessity in the market. We further highlighted its pure and nutritionalist process of extracting ghee highlighting its essence as a wholesome, trusted addition to every dish. From its traditional origins to its modern relevance, the brand was built around authenticity and the promise of delivering health in every bite. We created a design that reflected this purity and a strong narrative about quality and heritage that was thoroughly reflected in every design decision.

During Diwali we went all in on how Ugam ghee was the prime ingredient that made every traditionally made festive dish so much better and nutritionally rich. Excessive focus was paid not just to the flavour but to also to its health properties and nutritional benefits that made it stand out in a crowded marketplace. We fed the idea (quite literally) of guiltless indulgence especially at a time when homemade sweets were all the rage.

Today’s brands demand authenticity, relevance and creativity as customers are constantly bombarded with ads, and messages during the festive break, so brands need to stand out by offering something that feels personal, not just promotional. Remember when Cadbury became the go-to-gift for Rakshabandhan, and instead of sharing, you and your sibling turned it into a full-blown tug of war until your parents had to intervene? Those little things make festivals unforgettable, and brands often sneak into our cherished moments without us even realizing it.

Sneak Peek into Our Celebrations

  • Mohini by DSJ-
    Talk about fearless femininity! For Mohini’s Diwali campaign, we unveiled a whole new vibe- modern, luxurious and unapologetically bold. With collections like Virasa, Shakti and Polki, we infused every post and video on the divine power associated with femininity. The campaign names further established the concept and played on the festive touch celebrating the modern Indian woman.

  • Aakar Realties-
    Home is where the heart is and with Aakar, we helped bring to life this vision by inculcating the joy of celebrating together in a home you can call yours. Our campaign was filled with aww-worthy moments of the beauty of family gatherings and the happiness of creating cherished memories at home. The focus was on highlighting the potential of Aakar’s properties as the perfect setting for these moments.

  • Satyam Jewellers-
    Buying or adorning jewellery during festivals is a very important, often overlooked concept during marketing campaigns. For Satyam’s Diwali campaign we ensured that the spotlight was on the beauty and regality of wearing jewels during festive moments.

  • Royal Paints-
    The festive season is all about making your home beautiful and Royal Paints wanted to communicate exactly that. We, at Optimist, designed a seamless campaign that blended the beauty of Royal’s vibrant colours with festive essentials such as rangoli, faral and flowers that resonated with the celebration of Diwali. The campaign celebrated the idea that every home deserves a fresh coat of Royal Paints.

Conclusion:

This festive season was a whirlwind of creativity, and we couldn’t be prouder of the magic that we have whipped up for our clients across industries!
